WECAHN provides HIV and STD counseling and testing services in several testing sites throughout NC. Volunteers provide testing in non-traditional testing sites with collaborative agencies and out in the streets of these communities. No one will be turned away if they want to get tested. Priority populations are Men who have sex with men (MSM), minorities, IV drug users, and high risk individuals.
WECAHN provides HIV and STD educational information to workplaces, schools, community organizations, or at other community events. The presentations include information about how these diseases affect the community and how one can protect him/herself. Volunteers are trained in CDC approved interventions.
The original Condom-mobile was a van that was donated to WECAHN which was decorated with messages such as "Stay Safe- Protect Yourself!". WECAHN takes this van to its street fairs, and to deliver its educational and safety materials to numerous locations in serviced communities. The goal was to break down the stigma of sexual issues by addressing them openly in a lighthearted and responsible manner. In 2013, Crape Myrtle Festival provided a grant to help purchase a new condom-mobile. THANK YOU CRAPE MYRTLE FESTIVAL!!!
